#CORPORATESTYLE: ENTREPRENEUR

New York is an experience like no other. It's exciting, it's constantly changing, it's original. The more work you put in, the more the city rewards you. You constantly meet new people and with new experiences you learn more about yourself, you find out who you are -- who you want to be.

If this is your first time on Valengo Style, you may be wondering exactly what this is and who I am. To be perfectly honest, these are questions I ask myself every week.

Currently, I'm a second year law student at Fordham University School of Law where I'm a staff writer on the Intellectual Property, Entertainment, and Media Law Journal and the Canvassing Chair for a student-run fellowship that provides students with stipends for summer internships that are unpaid and in the public interest. I've always been passionate about helping those that can't help themselves -- whether that be with legal representation or not.

If I said that I knew exactly what this blog was, I'd be lying. I don't. It's an ever-changing and evolving part of my life. It's the place where I can share with the world my style and creativity. It's the place where I can control my image and my message. But what's the message? What am I trying to share? Who do I want to be? What do I want to do?

You might be surprised to know just how often I ask myself those questions/how often I'm asked those questions.

I want this blog to be empowering -- for myself and for all women. It's a statement that I am not one-dimensional. Women can do anything they set their minds to. I've never been someone that fits into a box. But why fit in when you can stand out? I'm not afraid to do the unexpected. It just so happens that I'm someone that loves fashion, style and individuality, but also since I was 7 years old I knew I was meant to represent people. Being a lawyer is not something I chose, but what I'm meant to do. But it's not all I'm meant to do. I'm an entrepreneur. I see the value in things where people don't.

This blog is certainly a big risk for me. Law-wise I want to be a corporate attorney, representing big companies and negotiating even bigger deals -- I'm sure you can imagine how big of a responsibility it is. Venturing into a fashion blog is a huge risk because of the way it may be perceived. But to be honest, how I dress is not something I'm ashamed of or something I think cannot be shared. This is like every business venture, it's risky, but if I put enough effort and dedication into this venture as I do to my law career, then the pay-off -- the reward -- is priceless.

I'm asked by friends what I'm wearing to law school events, interviews, class, meetings, and social events -- all the time. So I want to use this platform to share with the world my #StreetStyle, my #CorporateStyle, but most importantly, my #ValengoStyle. If I am able to inspire just one person outside of my circle into finding their own style, then I will have made all the difference necessary.
